Wöllert Inspired Photos

This week we were tasked with taking photos based on the style of one of the photographers we were supposed to study the previous week. My photos are based on the style of Jan Wöllert. Wöllert was a German photographer who made many light paintings. In order to replicate his style, I had to do a few things. First, I had to take photos in a dark environment. Specifically, I shot in a dark garage. Second, I had to adjust the aperture and shutter speed so the sensor would have the longest time exposed (without being overpowered). Lastly, I had to make whatever I made with the light an interesting subject. There was a lot of experimenting. Here are my first attempts...

  1. Really cool photos! its cool how each photo looks like it tells its own story and some of them are very humorous. Like you second to last supper funny and you use the different colors to your advantage. i also think its cool you have light outlining each of your characters. Great Job!

  2. Good job Gabe. I like the photos that are an outline the person best. Those pictures seem to tell a story. I feel like the first two photos are a little too bright and complicated. Good job though.

  3. These photos are really well done. In the pictures with the outline of a person, you should try and remove other objects from the scene if possible, the extra lines are slightly distracting. Otherwise, this is a really good series, and I can't wait to see more.

  4. Really cool pictures! Each picture has mysterious vibe to it. I really like the use of lights with slow shutter speed. It creates really cool images. I especially like the last couple of pictures because of how organized they are. Great work.
